Construction window cleaning is a very specialized cleaning that involves removing construction debris from windows, using special tools, soaps and chemicals without damaging the glass surface. When it comes to construction window cleaning, it is important to realize it is a very specialized form of window cleaning. There are substantial challenges in removing construction debris from glass without scratching the glass, and it is therefore not something that should ever be attempted by anyone not specifically skilled in this area.
In theory, windows in a construction environment would be protected at all times, which protects them from paint, plaster, and other construction debris. Unfortunately, in practice this is rarely the case. The window protection is usually incomplete, damaged, or nonexistent. Given this reality, choosing a skilled construction window cleaner is vital. The photos show the conditions one might expect to find on some construction sites.
There are many commonly held ideas about what is, and what is not, safe to use to clean windows. Unfortunately, many of these ideas are not valid. Razor blades and scrapers will not scratch glass during cleaning.
To avoid glass scratching and properly clean windows in a construction environment, one must know the basics about the glass fabrication process. For example, one should know the difference between tempered and annealed glass. Just as importantly, have the ability to distinguish between high quality and low-quality heat-treated glass. Standard construction window cleaning techniques on low-quality heat-treated glass can result in wide spread light scratching.
When glass scratches are noticed, it is helpful to observe the direction of the scratches. Many assume that if the scratches are in the same direction as the path taken by the window cleaner's scraper, the window cleaner is to blame. Often times these types of scratches result from excessive construction debris or a defective surface on the heat-treated glass, and are not the result of the window cleaner's scraper. Upon closer examination, it is often seen that the scratches do not extend from the beginning of the scraper's path to the end of the scraper's path. On defective tempered glass, as the scraper passes over each surface defect, it dislodges the defect and creates a new scratch as it is dragged across the glass surface. For a more extensive discussion of this topic, see the Glass Quality section of this site or check out the Tempered Glass Defects DVDs.

We started out providing post construction cleaning services to building contractors in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. After many years of research and innovations we expanded our services into pressure washing, tub & shower repairs, scratch removal to different substrates (glass, stainless steel, tubs & showers) and ended up providing window frame restoration and repair.
A construction enviroment puts windows and frames through severe conditions, and sometimes they donít survive the process. We discovered just how many ways window frames can be damaged during construction, such as nail holes, striking hammers during window and sheet rock installation, dropping window during shipping, installation, along with careless workers and manufacturing. The ways window frames can be damage are endless, but we can restore and repair almost any damage, and most can be done at a very reasonable price without removing the window, which can take a very long time to complete and be very costly.
The Fields Company offers extensive window frame repair to avoid the high cost replacement and avoide the repair cost of the surrounding area. Window frame restoration is a very important part of our services, which offers a complete restoration process of the entire window. When window glass requires restoration, the window frame usually requires the same restoration procedures to complete the job. We specialize in window frame restoration and repair to restore the frame to as close to original as possible, depending on the extent of the damage and the clients desires.
